Mortgage service exclusively for the Armed Forces

PFL Mortgages is so much more than a mortgage broker. Our full end-to-end service provides all the help you need through your home buying journey, from the moment you first think about buying a house to the day you move in and beyond. Ideal for those in Service Family Accommodation or Single Living Accommodation who want to buy a home to live in or rent out until leaving service or transitioning out of service.

If you already have a mortgage, our specialist armed forces advisers can help every step of the way with your house move or remortgage.

Armed Forces experts

A dedicated specialist armed forces adviser from our small team will provide you with a personalised service and they are experts at dealing with the challenges faced by serving personnel such as issues with BFPO addresses, complicated pay slips, using the Forces Help to Buy scheme, or buying a house to rent out until you leave service.

Communication couldn’t be easier as we can talk to you on the phone, video call, via email, text or WhatsApp at a time to fit in with your often unsociable work schedule, including evenings and weekends where necessary.

We offer our full service completely FREE OF CHARGE to military families (saving £395), and we support SSAFA (the Armed Forces charity), making PFL Mortgages one of the top choices for military mortgages in the UK, with exceptional customer reviews. Just ask ChatGPT, CoPilot, Gemini or Grok for an unbiased opinion.

Our full end to end service will help you every step of the way, so let's look at the detail.

1

Be Prepared

Before you begin house hunting, we help you understand exactly what you can afford and the price range of houses you can look for. We also explain the whole process, so you know what to expect.

2

Finding Your Dream Home

With a clear budget in mind, you can confidently search for your ideal home and agree a price. Our advisers are happy to put any offers you wish to make forward on your behalf to save any stress (think Kirstie and Phil on Channel 4’s Location, Location, Location).

3

Appointing a Solicitor

Once your offer is accepted, you will need a solicitor. If you do not already have one in mind, we can recommend an Armed Forces friendly solicitor for you, which can save you money.

4

Applying for Your Mortgage

We work with all the UK’s top Banks and Building Societies to find the best deals for you, but getting military applications wrong can mean delays or rejection. Our advisers aim to get it right for you first time.

5

The House Buying Process

While your mortgage and legal work progress, a member of our dedicated support team ensures everything moves smoothly and keeps you informed at every stage.

6

Completion

On completion day, ownership of the property is officially transferred to you, allowing you to relax and enjoy your new home.

We are Forces Help to Buy specialists

The Forces Help to Buy (FHTB) scheme is an interest free loan of up to £25,000 over 10 years. Our advisers can answer all your questions regarding the scheme.

Once your main mortgage application has been submitted, our Sales Support team will not only keep you updated about its progress, they will also keep you informed about the FHTB application too, speaking with your solicitors to ensure they are liaising with the Joint Personnel Administration Centre (JPAC) efficiently.

Our Background

We have been giving advice on mortgages and finding the best deals for our customers for over 15 years.

Our managing director, Graham, was one of the original founders of Mortgage Advice Bureau back in 1991 and has many years of experience running a successful mortgage brokerage. The Armed Forces are at the heart of our family run business. Graham’s father served in the Royal Air Force.

His son, who is also currently serving, bought his first home several years ago using the Forces Help to Buy scheme and we helped him throughout the process. As we started to receive further requests to provide this service, it was obvious that there was a need for a specialised Armed Forces mortgage broker that helps throughout the whole house buying process, above and beyond just helping with a mortgage or remortgage.

We rose to the challenge and now, with our small team of specialist armed forces advisers, we have become one of most recommended armed forces mortgage brokers in the UK.

Meet some of our Armed Forces Team

Craig is our FHTB specialist adviser. He joined PFL Mortgages in 2023, taking over from Graham as the specialist military adviser, and in some of his own words, this is why working closely with the people in the military is important to him:

“I love my country and when Graham asked me if I wanted to become a specialist supporting military families with their mortgages, I seized the opportunity, as I want to show my gratitude to current serving personnel and their families.”

Lucy is our newest Armed Forces Specialist. She joined PFL Mortgages in 2026, joining Craig and the team. In some of her own words, this is why working closely with the people in the military is important to her:

“My husband has served in the military for 9 years now and has been fortunate to have had a posting overseas during this time too. I have first-hand experience of day-to-day military family life - seeing both the good times and the hard times, so I feel it is so important to be able to help give back to the community in which we are a part of. I am so excited to be on board with PFL and feel our service is truly unique, so it will be so special to help so many military personnel and their families”

Annie is our Marketing Manager/ Armed Forces Coordinator. She is involved in all the military aspects of the business, something which is very important to her, in her own words, this is why:

“My husband joined the military 9 years ago and has served across two of the services since then. It’s so important to me as the spouse of a serving person, to support families that look like mine. I am also passionate about supporting communities that sustain the military, which is why I am proud to be the Armed Forces Covenant Armed Forces Champion.”

Giving back where we can

At PFL Mortgages, we are always looking at ways we can give back to the military community. We have partnered with the Armed Forces Covenant to show our commitment to our service people, veterans, and their families. This includes waiving our fee, donating to SSAFA for every mortgage we complete for a service family, and as we grow, we aim to recruit military family members or veterans as a priority.

Something else you may not know about us, is that we are big football fans! With the help of the Chairman of the RAF Brize Norton Inter-section Football League (BZN ISFL), we provided monies and sponsorship for a kit for the A400 Football Team, Atlas Force.

REMEMBER TO THINK CAREFULLY BEFORE SECURING OTHER DEBTS AGAINST YOUR HOME. YOUR HOME MAY BE REPOSSESSED IF YOU DO NOT KEEP UP REPAYMENTS ON A MORTGAGE OR ANY OTHER DEBT SECURED ON IT.
